Urgent Plea for KCA Committee Members

Dear Friends of Kananook Creek Association,

Leading up to the AGM, we have had 3 of our 5 committee members retire this year and we are no longer able to form a quorum. Despite several requests for volunteers, we are unable to fill the roles on our committee that Consumer Affairs Victoria requires of an Association.   Even though Rob Thurley has agreed to rejoin the committee, it saddens me that in our 51st year we may have to consider winding up the Association.

You should also be aware that from our glory years of over 400 members, and after a great turn-out at the 50th anniversary, our membership numbers have dwindled to 35 in 2019 and to less than 20 this year.  For those of you that have not renewed your membership for 2020, the small fee of $20 per household will help us to keep the lights on.  Without community support,  we really have no way to move forward.

I am interested to understand if there is any more you believe we should be doing.  Our remit is to be a voice for the community but we seem to be lacking that community support.  Please let me know if we are failing to meet your expectations and what more you would like us to do.  Feel free to email me personally if you wish to provide feedback.  I am open to suggestions.

As a last attempt to keep the KCA viable, please can I ask you to consider if you would be willing to join the Committee.

Kind Regards

Phil Carter

KCA President
